Job Description

Use one's mechanical engineering skills to create technology and tools that advance the gospel around the world. Design, model, prototype, and test equipment and tools that aid the partners in the fulfillment of the great commission. Work with the multi-disciplinary technical teams to develop and implement solutions that increase our partners’ effectiveness in the field.

Qualifications – Excels in analytical thinking and creative solution design. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) and simulation tools. Experience with rapid prototyping and manufacturing processes. Knowledge of material properties and manufacturing techniques. Able to work in small, multidisciplinary teams where ingenuity, flexibility, and a passion to serve others are highly valued. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with 3D printing, basic electronics integration, and the Design Thinking process not required but preferred. Availability for occasional travel to assist ministry partners on-site.

Responsibilities – Create mechanical designs and apply engineering principles to develop robust hardware solutions. Research new technologies and materials. Analyze system requirements and identify potential solutions. Perform structural/thermal analysis. Specify components and carry out rapid prototype development, including test and performance validation. Engage in system integration, performance testing, and product optimization. Collaborate with the production team on design changes. Develop product documentation, assembly procedures, and maintenance guides. Participate in student initiatives and intern supervision, training, and mentoring.

This is a full-time or part-time position, at our offices in Elkhart, Indiana. For supported staff, it requires the development of ministry partnerships for prayer and financial backing. A volunteer may also fill this position.
